Every month we celebrate different events that take place. Last month, our adults with the support & encouragement, of our children / young people sat and watched Martin Luther King’s I had a dream speech. Our adults then explained the history of events that transpired that lead to the famous speech. They later engaged in activities where, both our adults and young person created the “I have a dream” cloud & our young person completed the “Peace, Justice & Segregation” wordsearch. The day was topped off by with our young person and adult watching “Carry Me Home: A Reminder America Film”. Set in the time period of 1860, which followed a young mother who was trapped in slavery and used the opportunity to escape with her family by an underground railway. The film helped show our young person the history, discrimination, racism, mistreatment and struggles that was faced by African Americans as they tried to obtain equality, to deeper their understanding.
We are glad that our young people are engaging in these types of activities. Making the world a better place, one young person at a time.
